(Cheyenne, WY) Climb Wyoming is grateful for the support received from Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) over the past year. Sharing a goal of helping low-income single mothers discover a brighter future, the partnership is critical for families during these challenging times.

The social and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been especially hard on women. Since single mothers are often the sole childcare provider and income earner, the challenges for them can be daunting and lead to unemployment, food insecurity, and depression.

With WYCF support, Climb has been adaptive and innovative in serving as a critical resource hub for over 1,000 candidates, participants, and graduates statewide. To keep families stable and moving toward work readiness, Climb has worked one-on-one with single mothers to connect them to food and housing resources, financial assistance, and mental health services. Climb staff have also adapted job trainings to continue in safe and responsible ways, all while maintaining important aspects of the Climb’s therapeutic model and life skills, work readiness, and parenting classes.

WYCF oversaw the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund in order to help nonprofit organizations across the state granting over $500,000 in generous support. They also house the Wyoming Afterschool Alliance, Wyoming Women’s Foundation, and are the state KIDS Count partner. Together, these organizations are helping women and children stay stable and resilient so they can continue on the path to self-sufficiency.
